The following citeria shall guide the sponsorship administration in determining the most suitable candidates for the slots;
CATEGORY 1: Financial 20%

-Low household income, below 300000
-Unemployed parents
-Student part timing casual labour to pay fees
-Irregular class attendance.
-Renowned fees defaulter
-Report cards & academic results withheld by school.
-Lack of classroom tools.

-Pay slips
-Bank statements
-LC1 letters
-Photos of home
-School bursar’s records
-Teacher’s remarks
CATEGORY 2: Personal circumstances 15%
Key indicators
-Orphan
-Vulnerable child
-Disabled child
-Disabled parents
-HIV stricken family
-Walk long distance to school
-Child headed household
Verification Method
-Death certificates
-Local council verification.
-Medical reports over a specified period of time.
-Physical appearance
CATEGORY 3: Academic Potential 10%
Key Indicators
-Good grades
-Consistent Class performance
-Good discipline
-Good Peer mentor
Verification Method
-Report cards
-Teacher recommendations
-Exam results.
CATEGORY 4: Motivation and Character 5%
Key Indicators
-Leadership,
-Community service
-Good behavior, clear future goals
Verification Method
-Recommendations from fellow students, students’ leaders & teachers
-Recognition from the external public for community service.
CATEGORY 5: Gender Equity 10%
Key Indicators
-From very remote rural origin.
-Irregular school attendance
-Trek, ride or have to pay for transport to school on a daily basis.
-Difficulties affording basic girl child needs
Verification Method
-Daily roll call sheets
-Class monitor’s remarks
-Fellow students’ comments.
-Class teachers’ records.
CATEGORY 6. Sports person at school 10%
Key Indicators
-Has previously and consistently participated in games on behalf of the school & is a valuable player.
-He/she is from a poor background with limited support from the school.
-Excellent talent in specific field
Verification Method
-Poor living conditions at home
-Paying own fees at school
-Photos of home
-Sports department recommendation
Please note that there are oral and written interviews for all candidates.
